ISQ join 1% for the Planet

Giving back is no longer optional, it’s essential. 

At ISQ, we’ve always been passionate about helping the planet. On an individual level, we each try to do our bit to be more ethical and sustainable; reducing our carbon footprint by travelling on foot, volunteer work for Bristol-based charities, utilising a local co-working space who’s core focus is sustainability, ensuring we shop with sustainable and local brands, and donating to causes close to our hearts. But that still didn’t feel like enough - and when it comes to our business, we want to ensure we’re doing our bit collectively. 

Giving back to the planet via your company isn’t just a smart business decision—it’s the right thing to do. That's why we're proud to give 1% of our sales to environmental nonprofits through our new 1% for the Planet membership. 

The global movement was set up in 2002 by Yvon Chounard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies. The mission has always been simple, to bring dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving - they’ve proved that anyone can make a difference. Today they count more than 3000 members worldwide; corporations like Pukka Tea, Klean Kanteen, Brushfire Records and Caudalie, singers like Jack Johnson, and now Bristol-based crowdfunding agency ISQ Crowdfunding, all pledging to give back in some way. Since the beginning, they’ve certified more than $250 million in support to approved environmental nonprofits.

So why did we join? Simple. When companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, aren’t they liable to protect those resources? We think so. By joining 1% for the Planet, we are committed to donating the equivalent of 1% of gross sales through a combination of monetary, in-kind and approved support directly to environmental nonprofits. 1% for the Planet certifies all member donations—legitimising members’ commitment by reviewing and confirming sales and donation details annually.

We’re excited to see how our first year impacts the planet, and endeavor to spread the word as much as we can. Everyone has a 1%. What’s yours?
